MEDIA 2007

MEDIA 2007 Program is the European Union program in 2007 - 2013 media policy as continuation of MEDIA Plus and MEDIA Training programs.

Among major objectives of MEDIA 2007 there are strengthening of cooperation between the countries following the Program, strengthening of competitiveness of European audiovisual creative works and intensifying exploitation of audiovisual works in the European Union as well as in other countries beyond the Union.

MEDIA Program is designed for professionals in audiovisual industry, independent producers, distributors, commercial agents, educational institutions, film schools and festival organizers.

  • DEVELOPMENT (Project Development)

With MEDIA Program resources for the development scheme financial support may be provided to cover development costs of the European films and multimedia projects.

Types of eligible projects:

- Feature film of minimum 50 minute-length
- Creative documentary of minimum 25 minute-length (one episode or series)
- Animation of minimum 24 minute-length (one episode or series)
- Interactive project

Beneficiaries: production companies having experience in film production.

  • TV BROADCASTING

The program objective under the scheme of exploitation and distribution is the promotion of international distribution of European audiovisual works produced by independent production companies by encouraging cooperation between television broadcasters and independent producers, also distributors.

Types of eligible projects:

- Television feature films (single projects or series) not shorter than 50 minutes
- Creative documentaries (single projects or series) not shorter than 25 minutes.
- Animated films (single projects or series) not shorter than 24 minutes.

Beneficiaries: independent European production companies.

  • i2i AUDIOVISUAL

Under the foregoing scheme one may apply for subsidizing the film production bank loan-related costs such as interest, film completion insurance costs and other expenses.

Types of eligible projects:

Made for television or movie:

- Feature films (single projects or series) not shorter than 50 minutes
- Creative documentaries ((single projects or series) not shorter than 25 minutes
- Animated films (single projects or series) not shorter than 24 minutes.

Beneficiaries: independent European production companies.

EURIMAGES

 

Eurimages is the European cinema supporting fund but it is administered by the European Council. It offers subsidies to film industry for e.g. co-production activity.


Coproduction of film projects

Types of eligible projects:

- full feature films,
- full feature animated films,
- documentaries with the runtime over 70 minutes
 

The major assumption is based on the requirement to involve at least two coproducers from at least two member states.

Beneficiaries:

- producers (natural or legal entities), who under legislation of a given member state are involved in a business of film production as their major operations and who are independent of either public or private broadcasters,

- a company is regarded as European, if its majority stake is owned by entities from the member states,

- a producer company is regarded as independent, if maximum 25% of its shares are owned by a single broadcaster or maximum 50% of capital belongs to the group of broadcasters,

- producers, who were earlier provided with EURIMAGES support, must have complied with all and any obligations under any previous agreements.

EAVE WORKSHOPS

The program designed for audiovisual producers involving three-week workshops covering development, cofinancing, coproduction, budgeting, marketing, script analysis, negotiations and business planning issues. Participants may apply whether or not they have their own film project.

There is a fee for participation in the workshops, however, one may apply for a cost coverage fellowship.

P.R.I.M.E.

P.R.I.M.E. is the first European program designed for experienced film and television producers of a distinctive artistic profile, which offers professional support to the project development in such areas as development of a script, market survey, marketing, world sales, finance and interactive media.

Moreover, the workshops provide with an expert analysis of the project submitted by a participant.

There is a fee for participation in the workshops but it is possible to get a fellowship for the cost coverage.
