Description:
Pictures for "Hidden", a new film directed by Agnieszka Holland, will be shot in Łódź. The film is made in Polish-German-Canadian coproduction and the POLISH producer is ZEBRA FILM STUDIO.
This film is a tribute to the world, which stopped existing after World War II. We show a true story of people, who helped survive the few...
During WW II in Poland, Leopold Socha changes from a small, selfish petty thief into a brave hero risking his and his family's life by hiding a group of Jews from the Lvov ghetto in the sewage system during German occupation. He finally redeems himself by saving several men, women and children, who could survive almost 14 months living under the ground but for him.
Shooting is by Jolanta Dylewska, who directed „Po-lin. Okruchy Życia” and who was also a director of photography in "Tulpan", a film awarded in many film festivals, including Cannes, Tokyo, Toronto, Zurich, Karlovy Vary. Robert Więckiewicz plays a lead part in the company of Kinga Preis, Agnieszka Grochowska, Julia Kijowska, Marcin Bosak and Benno Fuehrmann, a star of the German cinema.
Owing to the support and help offered by the Łódź Film Commission the crew will shoot in Łódź and the Province of Łódź for up to 8 days. This way the Łódź region will provide major scenery for the Polish part of the „Ukryci” project directed by Agnieszka Holland. Shooting will start in March this year.
An important element of the shooting period in Łódź will be shots taken in the sewers i.e. the underground Łódka river. This will be possible owing to support offered by the Łódź Mains and Sewage Plant. The place won competition against Berlin and Leipzig. Shooting will also take place in some Łódź streets such as Wojska Polskiego, Włókiennicza and Nowomiejska Street as well as in the Old Town in Piotrków Trybunalski.
